These trucks were built on a modified and shortened GMT360 platform shared with the Trailblazer. The SSR features a steel body and a power-retractable hardtop designed by Karmann and assembled by ASC. This is one of the approximately 24,000 SSRs produced over the model run from 2003-06, and 2005 was the first year for the larger 6.0-Liter V8 engine borrowed from the C6 Corvette.
